"Ugo Lequio is a protagonist of Neive, and his 2017 Barbaresco Gallina is a showcase wine from this subzone. The robust and thick nature of fruit in this hot vintage comes through clearly, with aromas of dark cherry, spice, tar, licorice and pressed violet. Despite that extra power, those delicate floral tones associated with Nebbiolo come through nicely. This is a terrific near-term Barbaresco with an open-knit and accessible personality."
