Wine Advocate, 96+ Points

"The 2020 Ruchottes-Chambertin Grand Cru is brilliant, unwinding in the glass with aromas of dark berries, cherries, plums, violets, sweet spices and dark chocolate. Full-bodied, deep and layered, it's taut and structured, with serious reserves of concentration and powdery tannin, concluding with a long, saline finish. This will require and reward patience. Drink: 2030-2060."

John Gilman, 96+ Points

"I grieve that the replanted section of Ruchottes-Chambertin is going to have to be grubbed up and replanted again so soon, as that is twenty years of vine age wasted because of the rootstock issue. Sadly, this will be the case all over the Côte d’Or in the coming years. The 2020 Mugneret family’s Ruchottes-Chambertin is a stunning bottle in the making, and also the lowest octane of their grand crus this year, coming in at 13.4 percent alcohol. The bouquet is young and simply beautiful to behold, wafting from the glass in a blend of cassis, black cherries, grilled meats, coffee bean, a lovely base of black minerality, mustard seed and cedar. On the palate the wine is pure, full-bodied and very, very elegant in profile, with a superb core of sappy black fruit, fine transparency, ripe, fine-grained tannins and a very long, complex finish that closes with fine bounce and grip. Another stellar example of the vintage. 2035-2100. (Nov/Dec 2021)"

Decanter, 96 Points

"An impenetrably deep violet hue, then a bright, forward nose of blackberry and violets. The texture is very silky and yet there is impressive density here, balanced by fresh acidity. The overall effect is one of almost startling concentration and depth; a remarkable wine. From the 0.6ha parcel purchased by Dr. Georges Mugneret in 1976. The grapes are destemmed and given a cold soak followed by gentle punching down and then ageing in cask (75% new). Drinking Window: 2025-2060. (Oct 2021)"

Vinous, 94-96 Points

"The 2020 Ruchottes-Chambertin Grand Cru has a crystalline bouquet that articulates the limestone terroir with style. You can smell the vineyard in this wine, crushed rock percolating through the dark berry fruit. The palate is medium-bodied with vibrant red fruit mixed with spice and sous-bois, quite powerful yet somehow strict, almost to the point of attenuation, towards the finish. Perhaps this year, their crown jewel is surpassed by their Clos de Vougeot, which is not unprecedented. Drink: 2028-2060. (Dec 2021)"

Alcohol: 13.5%
