"The 2016 Beaune 1er Cru les Aigrots has a sensual bouquet with Morello cherry, crushed strawberry and light mineral notes that are very well defined. The palate is defined by a frame of chalky tannin housing tensile red berry fruit with just the perfect amount of salinité that will have you craving another sip. This is simply superb. Drink: 2018-2028."

"The 2016 Clos des Aigrots is very pure and very classic, with a fine core of sappy fruit, exceptional soil signature and a seamless and elegant structural chassis that will carry the wine beautifully for many decades. There was no frost here and the wine is really emblematic of the elegant and sappy style of the 2016s that were equally unaffected, with the bouquet jumping from the glass in a fine blend of cherries, red plums, gamebird, a touch of nutskin, sweet herb tones, a great base of soil and a gentle floral topnote redolent of lavender. On the palate the wine is pure, full-bodied and very soil-driven in personality, with good sappiness at the core, fine-grained tannins, bright acids and excellent focus and grip on the long, tangy and complex finish. Lovely wine. 2024-2060."

"Mid purple. This hillside wine has a fine graceful fragrance, with floral notes and fresh raspberry. What begins as a tense, firm, linear wine develops a surprising density of fruit right at the back."
