Distiller Notes: 

"The first single malt whisky from the new Komasa Kanosuke distillery in Kagoshima is one that already has the spirits world talking. Kanosuke utilizes all three of their copper pot stills to make a malt whisky of exacting quality that displays their pedigree, both as distillers and blenders. This unpeated malt is aged for just over three years in re-charred American white oak casks that previously aged their “Mellowed Kozuru” rice shochu.

This first edition single malt charts a course through amber colored hues of spiced marmalade, vanilla cream, and mellow timber. Bottled at cask strength without coloring or other additives, First Edition 2021 exhibits a mellow minerality and subdued salinity. The palate displays spiced marmalade, vanilla cream, and fallen timber before receding into a long and elegant finish reminiscent of bittersweet chocolate-covered orange peels sprinkled with sea salt. Long anticipated and instantly celebrated, this bottling establishes Kanosuke Distillery as one of the most formidable whisky makers in the Japanese whisky landscape."
