Winemaker Notes:
"Fresh nose of white flowers, salty sea breeze, pear, lemon zest with oyster shell minerality and mouthwatering acidity. Our Melon de Bourgogne is harvested from an 1,800 ft elevation vineyard in the Chalone appellation high in the Gavilan Mountain Range at the base of Pinnacles National Park. Planted in 1985 by the luminary Dick Graff on south-facing slopes of decomposed granite and limestone soils, essentially an extinct volcano. Overlooking Monterey from the east side of Salinas Valley, the site benefits from big diurnal swings of warm days, cool nights, and a balanced coastal influence. This unique terroir offers excellent drainage and mineral-rich soils, ideal for producing wines of freshness, focus, and minerality."
