"Alicante Bouschet should be your new discovery grape if you like Syrah, Petite Syrah or other hearty varieties. This wine is rich, concentrated with aromas of boysenberry, black plum confiture, violet and dried herbs on the nose. The flavors on the palate are dried cranberry, pomegranate and orange zest, morphing into pink peppercorn, molasses, earth and mineral, with a juicy, long finish. Decant and enjoy with barbecue."

"This heirloom variety was popular during Prohibition for its ease of shipping due to its thick skin, loose cluster, and dark color. This unusual, red-fleshed grape has been farmed at Mohr-Fry Ranch since 1922 and has played a significant role in Lodi and California wine history."
