Arneis was on the verge of extinction in the 1970s, but thanks to a handful of dedicate wineries, it has made an impressive recovery.  Rightfully considered one of the great white grapes of Italy, Arneis translates to "little rascal" in the local dialect, which is appropriate given the grape's trickiness in the vineyard.  Arneis is native to Piedmont, specifically the Roero hills which produces the best expressions of the grape.  It is a floral, fragrant white wine that goes with almost all food.  It has vibrant fruitiness, engaging floral character and graceful acidity.  Arneis typically has plush flavors of green stone fruits.  You'll find notes of apple, pear, peach, apricot and honeysuckle rounded out with a creamy almond and hazelnut touch.  It's crisp, fresh, fruity and elegant.  Renzo Seghesio is a small, family-owned winery that has been making wines in Piedmont since the 1980s.  The 2022 Renzo Seghesio San Bernardino Roero Arneis is vivid and juicy with mouthwatering acidity.  It's medium-bodied, zesty, tangy and fresh.  This white wine is mineral and delicate with a balanced body.  On the palate, there are notes of peach, apricot, apple crunch, citrus, lemons, pears, white flowers, citrus leaf and crushed stones.  Enjoy!

"The Arneis San Bernardino is sapid, fresh, mineral, harmonic and delicate, sustained by a balanced body and gifted with a complex bouquet of peach, apricot, citrus and apple notes.  Relative to other Roero Arneis, the Seghesio expression is a bit racier and leaner, yet still pretty with all its white flowers, apple crunch, and spritz-y summer citrus."
