La Lomita Wines is a family estate in the Central Coast that doesn't get the attention it deserves.  The production is tiny with sometimes less than 200 cases made and the wines are rarely available outside of the winery.  They craft unique, one of a kind wines you won't find anywhere else.  La Lomta makes elegant estate and single vineyard Edna Valley wines with a sense of place, freshness and vibrancy.  The VanderHorst family created La Lomita with winemaker Mikey Giugni to make wines that embody the Central Coast.  Mikey Giugni and his wife have been instrumental in shining a light on the Central Coast and elevating the wines coming out of the region.  Mikeys's already a major influence in the Central Coast wine scene.  He was named in Wine Enthusiast's "40 Under 40 Tastemakers" and Wine Advocate's 2019 "10 Discoveries of the Year".  La Lomita's home estate vineyard is Islay Hill, a unique site in the region that takes its name from the volcanic hill on which it rests.  This unusual site combines Edna Valley's cool, ocean climate with highly unusual pure volcanic soils to craft wines you won't find anywhere else.  The 2021 La Lomita Islay Hill Vineyard Syrah is savory and full of Old World style.  It has robust flavors of blackberry, black cherry, spices, pepper and chocolate.  This Syrah imparts aromas of damp bay leaf, forest floor, black tea and oregano.  It's full-bodied, bold, tannic and complex.  Enjoy!

"Damp bay leaf and forest floor aromas give depth to the brawny, stewed elderberry core to the nose of this bottling from vines grown in volcanic soils. Roasted fruit flavors on the palate are layered in Indian spices, thyme and eucalyptus leaf, with a solid peppercorn presence deep into the finish."
