"The 2020 Richebourg Grand Cru has a refined and beautifully focused bouquet, like the Aux Brûlées, a gradual build of red fruit laced with crushed stone and wilted rose petal. The palate is very focused with finely chiselled tannins, fanning out wonderfully on the finish. Perhaps a much more elegant Richebourg than its peers, this is absolutely superb."
John Gilman, 97 Points
"The 2020 Richebourg from Domaine Méo-Camuzet is an utter classic. The wine delivers a gorgeous aromatic constellation of plums, black cherries, cocoa powder, tea-smoked duck, a lovely base of soil tones, woodsmoke, violet and nutty oak. On the palate the wine is deep, full-bodied and already velvety on the attack, with a sappy core of fruit, lovely soil signature and grip, ripe, fine-grained tannins, bright acids and laser-like focus on the long, complex and very refined finish."
Wine Advocate, 95-97 Points
"Aromas of cherries, blackberries, burning embers, exotic spices, violets and blood orange introduce the spectacular 2020 Richebourg Grand Cru, a full-bodied, velvety and enveloping wine that's deep and multidimensional, with lively acids, supple tannins and a long, resonant finish. Rich and concentrated, it's a brilliant wine in the making. Jean-Nicolas Méo began his harvest on August 23, and he has produced another fine vintage at this Vosne-Romanée reference point. Méo has always done well in warm, sunny vintages (as a lovely bottle of his 2003 Nuits Lavières recently reminded me), and 2020 is no exception. Indeed, for a vintage that was generally somewhat primary and frequently tightly wound this winter, Méo's wines—habitually quite backward after 12 months' élevage—were remarkably put together and expressive. Mostly landing at around 13.5% alcohol, they're vibrant, concentrated and nicely balanced, showing considerable aging potential."
Jasper Morris, 94-98 Points
"Gorgeous balanced mid purple. The nose has the heady qualities of this great vineyard but not the possible excesses of this vintage. Gets richer in the glass. Layers of fruit here, almost too much to understand in one go. Could just use a mini ounce of extra freshness perhaps, though that could of course be the sample. Tighter structure nonetheless. Tasted: December 2021."
Burghound, 94-97 Points
"A restrained, elegant and wonderfully fresh nose speaks of a beautiful array of spice and floral elements on the mix of both red and dark fruit, exotic tea and a whiff of oak toast scents. There is excellent energy to the well-detailed and powerful broad-shouldered flavors that brim with sappy dry extract that helps to buffer the markedly firm but not rigid tannic spine shaping the driving, balanced and hugely long finish. This youthfully austere and decidedly backward effort is a classic Richebourg of class and grace but also one that is very much built to repay several decades of keeping. *Burghound Don't Miss!*"
