"Deep raspberry fruit, with a floral edge, the balance between the rewarding density and fresh acidity ensures that the wine is not heavy at all. Marvellous. Dugat-Py has 3ha of village Gevrey and most of the vines are very old - the average age is 50 years of age, although the oldest is 110. There is a hectare of 80-year-old vines in Les Epointeurs, a half-hectare in Combes de Dessus and a half-hectare in Les Marchais amongst others."

"A super-fresh and distinctly earthy aromas are comprised by notes of cassis and dark berry fruit liqueur. The dense, serious and mouth coating flavors possess a beguiling texture thanks to the abundance of dry extract that also serves to buffer the firm tannic spine shaping the strikingly long finish. This is flat out terrific and it's rare to see villages-level Gevrey at this level. *Outstanding, Top Value!*"
Wine Advocate, 91-93 Points
"The 2020 Gevrey-Chambertin Coeur du Roy is a rich, muscular wine, but it's much more elegant and structurally refined than was the case only a few years ago. Offering up aromas of wild berries and plums mingled with dark chocolate, warm spices, black truffles and burning embers, it's medium to full-bodied, rich and velvety, with striking concentration—old, low-yielding Pinot Fin in top lieux-dits ensures that—and a seamless, complete profile. The 2020 is another brilliant vintage for a domaine that has been on one of the hottest hot streaks in contemporary Burgundy in recent years. Vibrant flavors, beautifully refined tannins, striking concentration and moderate alcohols are the order of the day, and these young wines seem to unite the charm of 2019 and the seriousness of 2018 (at least at this address, which produced some of the wines of the vintage) with supplemental reserves of energy that mark them out as very special indeed. Clearly, the domaine's innovative viticulture, emphasizing high, unhedged canopies and biodynamic preparations, with soils cultivated to encourage deep rooting, meant the vines were better equipped to resist the heat and drought in 2020 than many of their neighbors."
