"There is a silky, sweet cherry and blackberry fruit, with a lifted floral note plus a hint of earthy minerality. On the palate there is impressive concentration and length for a village wine. Very well done. For me, this is the pick of the village-level wines in the cellar in 2020. It is blended across 11 different parcels representing 1.85ha in total; it's a snapshot in a bottle of Chambolle-Musigny. It was picked at 13% alcohol this year (no small feat), and vinified as 20% whole-cluster before ageing with just 15% new casks. Drinking Window 2025 - 2040."

"The 2020 Chambolle-Musigny Village has a vivid bouquet with red cherries, cranberry and violet scents, actually, quite Vosne-like in personality. The palate is medium-bodied with supple tannins, fine acidity, quite poised and tense with a dash of spice on the finish. This is a delicious Chambolle that should give 12-15 years' drinking pleasure."

"Once again there is lovely freshness to the cool and airy aromas of red cherry, dark raspberry and spice. I very much like the texture of the mineral-driven, chiseled and vibrant medium-bodied flavors that culminate in a dusty bitter pit fruit-inflected finish that offers excellent depth and persistence for a villages-level wine. "The 2020 Chambolle-Musigny Village wafts from the glass with aromas of cherries and raspberries mingled with warm spices and rose petals. Medium to full-bodied, rich and velvety, with lively acids, powdery tannins and a perfumed finish, it's seamless and complete. Somewhat lower in alcohol than his 2019 portfolio but just as striking and sensual in style, Charles Van Canneyt has produced a brilliant range of wines in the 2020 vintage—including what may well be his best Richebourg (to mention only one cuvée out of several by name) to date. Harvest began on August 28th and only lasted a few days, delivering wines of striking concentration and energy. Everything reviewed here comes warmly recommended and will be well worth seeking out."

"The 2020 Chambolle villages from Monsieur van Canneyt is very elegant in profile this year. The wine delivers a perfumed aromatic constellation of plums, black cherries, chalky soil tones, dark chocolate, woodsmoke and a deft framing of vanillin oak. On the palate the wine is pure, full and still quite primary in personality, with a pretty core of fruit, suave, seamless tannins, tangy acids and lovely focus and grip on the long, complex and classy finish. This will end up being a very refined middleweight once it blossoms, but it will need a bit of cellaring first. 2028-2060+"
