"This Pinot is from a Martinelli-farmed property in the heart of the appellation, and it shows beautiful finesse and balance. Spicy cola notes meet a core of dark-cherry and berry flavor, with well-integrated oak and tannins, allowing the fruit to speak."
James Suckling, 93 Points
"A perfumed nose of redcurrants, cherries, forest-floor, bark and spice box. Medium body with fine tannins and fresh acidity. Fruity, juicy and crunchy. Succulent finish with excellent length."
Wine Advocate, 91 Points
"The 2019 Pinot Noir Moonshine Ranch, matured 15 months in 80% new oak, has savory aromas of charcuterie, mossy bark, potpourri and cinnamon. The light-bodied palate is chalky and fresh with delicate, spicy flavors and a juicy, gently oak-laced finish."
Winemaker Notes:
"These Pinot Noir grapes are grown by Lee Martinelli, Jr. at their Moonshine Ranch. It is a vineyard interplanted with alternating rows of “Pommard” 04 and Dijon 828 Pinot Noir. The signature character of Moonshine is very floral, bright red-fruit notes and a creamy-textured richness. It’s very deceptive and seems delicate early on but then begins to pickup more density and power as it matures. Yes, drink it now for the chirpy delicious red-fruit character but hide a couple of bottles for the longer run."
