"The 2016 Meursault 1er Cru Charmes is superb, unfurling in the glass with aromas of crisp peaches, apples, dried white flowers, honeycomb and oatmeal. On the palate, the wine is medium to full-bodied, satiny and pure, with a deep, concentrated and multidimensional core, vibrant acids and a long finish. There's plenty of tight-knit structure and dry extract here, so this should be a long-lived Charmes."

"Blessed with a good crop in 2016, this Charmes was made with no new oak in 2016 as Dominique Lafon cancelled his orders. It’s a dense, rich, comparatively powerful Meursault that’s more open than the 2015 was at a similar stage, with lovely baking spice and pear tart flavours and impressive palate length. 2022-30."
Jasper Morris, 93-95 Points
"A cheerful 35 barrels were made! Fullish yellow, while the bouquet shows quite a lot of oak. This is a rounded, opulent, muscular wine on the palate, with just the right amount of flesh, while also retaining good acidity."
Decanter, 94 Points
"The Charmes is excellent in 2016, with an expressive nose of spring flowers, yellow orchard fruit, honey, almond and hazelnut. On the palate the wine is deep and concentrated, with almost chewy extract and a lovely sense of completeness. Its acids are fresh and racy, and the finish is long and palate-staining. This has the balance to drink rather well out of the gates as well as develop nicely in the cellar. Drinking Window 2022 - 2040"

"An all but invisible trace of reduction still allows the elegant nose of petrol, acacia blossom and ripe pear aromas to be appreciated. There is fine complexity to the vibrant, lightly stony and delicious medium-bodied flavors that possess good underlying tension; indeed this could reasonably be described as racy on the balanced and seriously complex and firmly structured finish. In short, this is excellent."
Vinous, 93 Points
"(the crop was normal at 50 hectoliters per hectare; bottled last week): Bright, light yellow. Deep but precise aromas of lemon, orange and hazelnut, with a hint of reduction. Densely packed and seamless, with its serious thickness of texture leavened by a strong impression of acidity. Conveys a crystallized citrus zest character, with firm acidity carrying and extending the fruit through a very graceful finish. Classic Charmes, made almost entirely from vines just below Perrières."
