James Suckling, 97 Points
"This wine shows fabulous aromas of stones and flowers with dried fruits and spices. It’s subtle yet full with ultra-fine tannins and a gorgeous, long finish."
Wine Spectator, 93 Points
"Shows mint, black tea, sous-bois and sandalwood notes that are distinctive and alluring. Long and refined on the finish, with supple black cherry and boysenberry fruit gliding throughout. Wins mostly on aroma, but there's still sneaky depth and length here. Lovely.--Non-blind Canon vertical (December 2016). Drink now through 2022."
Wine Advocate, 92 Points
"Tasted a the Château Canon vertical, the 1982 Canon is clearly fully mature on the nose, so much so that I have a sneaking suspicion that it may have passed its peak. But there is still plenty to savor here with leather, fresh prune and game, perhaps just a little volatility but not too much. The palate is medium-bodied, fleshy on the entry with good acidity, sweeter and more candied than the 1989 Canon. It offers black cherries, raspberry coulis, leather, sage and tobacco, coalescing nicely towards the finish that lingers. There is a game-like and feral aspect to this 1982 these days, though it will continue to give pleasure over the next decade. Tasted October 2015."
