"Winemaker and co-owner Mike Sullivan has produced one of the best-value Russian River Chardonnays on the market. Chardonnay grapes are sourced from Martaella Estate and Zio Tony Ranch, whole cluster pressed and fermented with indigenous yeasts, aged 13 months in 34% new French oak. The result is a Chardonnay you just can't put down. Seductively bright aromas of lemon curd, poached pear, and candied ginger mingle with warm baking spices. Round and velvety with superb fruit weight and a dense mineral core that is salty and savory. Such a dynamic white for the price."
Wine Enthusiast, 94 Points
"Subtle at first but richer with each sip, this deceptively full-bodied wine layers nutmeg, toasted oak and hazelnut nuances between ripe apple and pineapple flavors on a smooth, expansive texture. Excellent depth, good balance and a lingering finish seal the deal. *Editors' Choice*"
Jeb Dunnuck, 92 Points
"The 2020 Chardonnay has classic aromas of green apple, caramel, and lemon balm. It reveals lush fruit and soft texture on the palate, with ripe peach, orange blossom, and a pure, clean finish. It’s a delicious wine from winemaker Mike Sullivan."
Wine Spectator, 91 Points
"Shows terrific precision and complexity, with fresh, ripe apple, citrus and pear flavors that have details of nutmeg, salted butter and lemon thyme. Reveals toast and spices on the long finish."
Winemaker Notes:
"This lively Chardonnay is bursting with aromas of citrus blossom, yellow Mellon, and white peach. The nose is filled with sun-ripened apricot and white peach, knit together by balanced acidity and a long-complex finish. Barrel fermentation and oak aging for 13 months have added hints of toasted almond, and spice cake to a subtle minerality on the finish. This dynamic Chardonnay will drink well upon release and will improve with a year or two in the bottle."
