"The 2017 Meursault villages was already racked to tank, just prior to the start of harvest in 2018, and was destined for bottling in December. The wine is an excellent AC, offering up a precise and classy bouquet of apple, passion fruit, chalky soil tones, a hint of coconut, spring flowers and vanillin oak. On the palate the wine is deep, full-bodied, pure and quite vibrant in personality, with a good core, superb focus and grip and a long, bouncy and nicely taught finish. Good juice. (Drink between 2018-2040)"

"There is an interesting hint of grilled nuts to the acacia blossom and citrusy aromas that reveal an appealing spiciness. The racier and more tightly wound medium weight flavors possess slightly better depth and persistence on the very dry but not really austere finale."
Wine Advocate, 89-91 Points
"The 2017 Meursault Village is lovely, offering up appealing aromas of crisp peach, pear, lemon, white flowers and a touch of praline. On the palate, the wine is medium to full-bodied, satiny and layered, with excellent cut and tension that belies its seductively textural attack. The 2017 vintage is an excellent year for Domaine des Comtes Lafon, where Dominique Lafon and his team seem to have attained a new level of consistency since the 2009 vintage. After the better part of two decades' experimentation and refinement, Lafon has found a mature aesthetic. What's more, he has devoted considerable attention to the question of premature oxidation, and today monitors dissolved oxygen levels at racking and bottling closely. Since the 2013 vintage, all the domaine's wines have also been bottled under Diam technical corks, and free sulfur levels and bottling practices have been adjusted accordingly. The result is wines that now realize much more reliably the quality they show in barrel. Satiny and succulent, these are some of the most charming wines in Meursault, beautifully defined by their respective climats. And 2017 is a fine vintage in red at this address, featuring for the first time a Volnay Champans derived almost exclusively from the domaine's 1921 plantings in this serious premier cru."

"(an approximation of the final blend; Lafon has 50 barrels of this wine, representing a yield of 55 hectoliters per hectare): Bright, light yellow. Classic Meursault aromas and flavors of peach and nectarine. Boasts lovely fat and sweetness as well as a faint floral complexity. Finishes with palate-saturating fruit and excellent length for village wine. This wine is likely to offer considerable early pleasure."
