"Sourced from vines planted in 1993, the T-Block of Hudson Vineyard is said to be the oldest existing Syrah plantings in Carneros. The palate is profoundly ripe but pure, with sun-drenched blackberry flavour tinged with sappy, slightly caramelised notes of burnt sugar and singed cloves. This powerful wine is anchored with charry, finely etched tannins."

"The 2022 Syrah Hudson Vineyard T Block is a dark, meaty wine. Black cherry, game, licorice, iron, incense and espresso add to a feeling of somber intensity. This powerhouse Syrah packs a huge punch, as Syrahs from Hudson often do. The stem component is evident, but also integrated nicely." 

Winemaker Notes: 

"The 2022 Hudson Syrah T-Block, our 13th rendition from this great vineyard parcel, is a glorious beast of a wine. If our Angeles de Arena and Bien Nacido bottlings tend towards a more elegant and ethereal side of Syrah, this is one that is convinced of its own omnipotence. Sourced from vines planted in 1993 on the “Front” ranch at Hudson (the other 1993-planted block, Q, is the source of John Kongsgaard’s stylish rendition of the vineyard), this is a combination of Noir and Estrella clones grown in Diablo clay-loam soils. Dark, rich, and brimming with aromatics of mulberry, bacon fat, charcuterie board, wintergreen, and pepper, this is a dense and dark wine. To be honest, this reminds me of the powerful 2009 wine which has aged brilliantly. Fermented with 40% whole-cluster and aged in a combination of puncheons and smaller barrels for 16 months. A tour-de-force of the vintage, this is one my favorite Hudsons to date. "
