As the calendar flips to December and nighttime temperatures drop, we all seek out a little something to warm our soul. For some it’s a nice fire and a good book. For others, it’s cuddling under a blanket and watching a favorite movie. Whatever your pleasure is, add a wee dram of the Old Forester single barrel, barrel-strength bourbon into the mix and your evening is guaranteed to get better. It has aromas and flavors that will remind you of some of your favorite holiday scents. Praline pecans, nutmeg and cinnamon, your grandad’s pipe tobacco, and as you press your face into the gift of a new baseball glove, the sweet smell of leather. Then add in some peach rings and sweet oak and well, it’s about as classic bourbon as it gets. 

There are proof-chasers out there and if you want it, it’s there at 131.3 proof. I’ll tell you this: pour some in a glass and add a few drops of a nice bottled water and let it sit. Still gonna get that nice “Kentucky Hug,” don’t you worry. With a healthy mix of cooked peaches, pralines, and dark chocolate on your first sip, your tongue will tingle from the lemon peel, but in a good way. As the bourbon hits mid-palate, nutmeg, browned butter, and toffee come to life. 

The back-end and finish are where all of that 18% rye influence kick in with clove, cinnamon, and black pepper that linger well into your next sip.
