"A new wine in the Jorge Ordonez portfolio, the 2022 Sylarion is mostly Monastrell, aged for nine months in new French oak barrique, followed by three months in second-use 500-liter barrels. It's a rich, powerful wine offering both red and blue fruits as well as classy aromatics of graphite, crushed stone, and spring flower-like aromas and flavors. It's beautifully textured, full-bodied, has a round, layered mouthfeel, and riveting purity and length. It's impossible to resist today yet has plenty of tannins. It will evolve for 15-20 years if well-stored."

"The 2022 Sylaron is predominantly Monastrell, sourced from a single vineyard planted in 1980 in Sierra de Quibas, Alicante. Aged in oak barrels, this dark and ripe red wine unfolds blackberry, plum and balsamic aromas against a cedar backdrop, followed by notes of ash and marmalade. Dry, rich and velvety, the ample and juicy palate achieves a bold and tasteful balance, complemented by a chalky texture. This is a complex, intense Monastell - sun-born and carefully crafted."

"As discoverer, pioneer, founder (Bodegas El Nido, Bodegas Volver), and the single most important modern promoter (Luzón, Casa Castillo, Juan Gil) of the Monastrell variety and D.O.'s Jumilla and Alicante, Jorge Ordóñez created Sylarión in 2022 as a small, confidential, and very personal project with the goal of creating the finest Monastrell-based wine in the southeast of Spain. Nestled between incredible contrasting landscapes, Jorge discovered the city of Abanilla (known in the eighth century as Favanella, the beautiful city), an oasis in the Murcian desert. Majestic golden eagles fly through this sparse landscape of juniper and pine trees, wild thyme, and other Mediterranean herbs. The art on the label of Sylarion is ancient Iberian artwork of the typical golden eagle that can be found in this area."
