"This wine is barrel-aged for a rather long time in 75% new oak. Although going through a reductive stage now, it expresses smoky blackcurrant fruit with a touch of vanilla. It's a dense, seamless wine that has more depth than Les Poyeux but also more austerity, with a liquorice-infused finish. Should be magnificent in 15 to 20 years."
Vinous, 93 Points
"The 2018 Le Bourg is a mouth-filling, full expression that’s robust and powerful, offering up rich flavors of smoked bacon, tapenade and mint. This is not a wine for opening any time soon; it has chunky tannins and a sense of dryness, alongside herbs and Elastoplast which suggests there may be some Brett here. This is quite lengthy and would be designed for the long-haul if there were no microbiological activity going on."
