"The 2020 Santenay 1er Cru Gravières Rouge is a magical wine in the making, unfurling in the glass with aromas of plums and wild berries mingled with hints of rose petals, rich spices and deep soil tones. Medium to full-bodied, concentrated and multidimensional, it's velvety and vibrant, with beautifully refined tannins, terrific generosity of fruit and lively balancing acids. Like its white counterpart, this sets a new standard for Santenay."

"The 2020 Santenay Les Gravieres 1er Cru shows just a little reduction on the nose, though there is plenty of coiled-up fruit.  The palate is medium-bodied and beautifully balanced, with very fine tannins, flavors of black cherries and bilberry, and a touch of black olive toward the finish.  This is very harmonious and persistent.  Superb."
