"Very dark in the glass, this bottling explodes on the intense nose with aromas of seared lamb, iodine, purple flowers, rosemary and charcoal. The tar, char and asphalt flavors consume the grippy palate, with a core that ranges from raw, gamy meat to mace and eucalyptus before finishing on a streak of violet. Drink 2022-2040. *Cellar Selection*"

"The 2018 Syrah Soberanes Vineyard is similarly deep purple and offers a more mineral-laced, classic, straight style. It’s an Hermitage compared to the Côte Rôtie-like Garys’ Vineyard. Black and blue fruits, liquid rock, graphite, ground pepper, and new leather notes define this beauty, another medium to full-bodied, beautifully put together, structured wine from this team. It too will benefit from 2-3 years of bottle age and keep for a decade or more."

"Youthful purple. Highly perfumed, spice-accented black and blue fruits, licorice and potpourri on the expressive nose. Stains the palate with concentrated blackberry, boysenberry, cherry and violet pastille flavors, and picks up spice and floral nuances with aeration. Rich and broad but lively as well, finishing with sharp delineation, steadily building tannins and superb, blue-fruit-driven persistence."
