"More closed and reticent, the 2022 Châteauneuf Du Pape Les Quartz reveals a deeper ruby/plum hue as well as remarkably purity in its black cherry and assorted darker berry fruits as well as black peppery, black olive, licorice, and violets aromas and flavors. Absolutely gorgeous on the palate, it's full-bodied and has a deep, layered mouthfeel, ripe tannins, and a great finish."

"The 2022 Chateauneuf du Pape Les Quartz is a return to the blockbuster style of the 2020, yet it retains a sense of freshness. Hints of menthol and crushed stone on the nose accent black cherries and blueberries, while the full-bodied palate is plush and expansive without being at all heavy. Lush and long, produced from yields under 20 hectoliters per hectare, it's a stunning blend of 80% Grenache and 20% Syrah."

"Dark in colour, this has intriguing herbal depths. Not massive, but it has an enjoyably compact frame, no lack of concentration, and serious intensity leading to a long finish. It’s vibrant, with amazing purity and clarity of flavour. Grown half on large pebbles, half on sand in lieu-dit Les Cassanets, destemmed, then fermented in tronconic concrete vats, then matured mostly in demi-muids and old barriques except for 7% in amphora. 6,800 bottles made."

Elegant and refreshing, this is a terrific Les Quartz that perfectly integrates the 15.08% alcohol. Tasted twice with consistent notes."
