Blend: 40% Syrah, 40% Mourvèdre, 10% Cabernet Sauvignon, 10% Counoise
Year: 2017
Winemaker Notes:
"Intense garnet hue with violet tints and an ochre light rim. Subtle hints of candied violets and licorice combined with dark berry jam, dry herbs, and a touch of minerals. Juicy with a soft, silky texture, ripe plums, and a hint of nougat in the finish. Elegant and light-bodied, this youthfully accessible wine has taut tannins that will improve with further aging."
About the Producer:
"Domaine de la Grange des Pères is a family estate created from scratch in 1989 in the Herault region, near Montpellier. Since its creation, the Domaine gained cult status (very limited production of highly sought-after wines). Laurent Vaillé has achieved in the Languedoc what others thought impossible. It took dynamite and bulldozing to clear the 10 Hectares of land in Aniane (Hérault) to find a great terroir for his cuttings - Syrah, Marsanne, and Roussanne from Chave, Mourvèdre from Tempier and Cabernet Sauvignon from Trévallon.
Laurent Vaillé is one of the most talented winemakers in the Languedoc. He learnt everything about wine at the sides of some of the great masters such as Eloi Dürrbach (Domaine de Trevallon), Gérard Chave (Domaine Jean-Louis Chave) and also Jean-François Coche Dury (Domaine Coche Dury) from whom he inherited "the passion for a job well done". Since his first vintage in 1992, he has been producing wines of rare quality that are highly in demand from collectors. Wines that are practically legendary, that all wine-lovers would like to have tasted at least once in their life."
