"The 2022 Riesling Forster Pechstein Grosses Gewächs sample was drawn from a used tonneau, but the final blend includes new wood. The nose is restrained, slightly smoky and reveals just a little stone fruit. The palate is smooth with the oak, creamy, made gentler with fruit, but the wine's essential smokiness and hermetic nature, for now, hides behind that more charming facade of creamy, smooth oak. I expect the oak will make the austere Pechstein a little gentler, but its essential nature will remain unchanged. (Bone-dry)" 

Winemaker Notes: 

"Pechstein GG is located on a slope north of Forst and has sandstone, lime and lots of basalt in the soil. Spontaneously fermented in 500l oak barrels and matured on the yeast for 1.5 years. A dense, intense and very deep Riesling from an exceptional location."
