"The very, very old vines that make up the Les Delys 1926 bottling have absolutely excelled in the excellent vintage of 2023. The wine comes in at an even fourteen percent octane and offers up a very deep and refined, black fruity nose of sweet dark berries, cassis, a hint of pomegranate, espresso, bonfire, spit-roasted gamebird, a complex base of dark soil tones and a topnote of currant leaf. On the palate the wine is pure, full-bodied and extremely elegant in profile for young Morgon, with a deep, old viney and sappy core of fruit, stunning soil signature and grip, fine-grained tannins and a long, complex and absolutely seamless finish. These ancient vines have produced such a perfectly balanced wine in 2023 that one might be tempted to drink it on the early side, but there is so much still here to unlock that it will border on a crime to open a bottle before it is eight or nine years of age! 2031-2075+."

"The 2023 Morgon Les Délys Vignes plantées en 1926, aged in foudre, offers a full-bodied profile with a seamless integration of tannic structure and concentrated fruit. On the palate, notes of chocolate spice, licorice, blueberry and ginger unfold smoothly, voluminously coating the mouth with a rich, almost waxy texture. The smooth-coated tannins aptly stabilize the wine in perfect proportion to the wine's body. Herbaceous, mentholated accents emerge, adding freshness and complexity to the wine’s lingering finish. Drink 2026-2034."
