Founded in 1970, Siro Pacenti is an acclaimed estate in Tuscany known for its Montalcino wines and as one of Montalcino's top estates. It's a family-owned estate with the son, Giancarlo, carrying on the family legacy with the maximum precision and attention to detail. He is known as an absolute perfectionist and leaves nothing to chance. The family is a pioneer in Tuscany for the use of barriques for aging and was the first in Montalcino to attach greater importance to site wines. These are some of the most elegant, agile and linear wines from the region. Their Rosso di Montalcino is considered to be one of the very best in all of Italy. Rosso di Montalcino comes from the same place as Brunello and is better than ever right now. The 2021 Siro Pacenti Rosso di Montalcino drinks more like a Brunello than a Rosso. It's rich, opulent and pure silk on the palate. This is a powerful, full throttle wine with good structure and young tannins. It's bursting with flavors of wild berries, sour cranberries, orange sorbet, blackberry, blackcurrant, plum sauce, licorice, cola, earthy spice and smoke. This Rosso is wildly attractive with a long, dramatic finish. Enjoy!
Vinous, 92 Points
"Dark and brooding, the 2021 Rosso di Montalcino is at first rich and opulent, with an array of plum sauce and licorice. It gains an earthy balance as minty herbs and cedar shavings join the fray. This is like pure silk on the palate, with a measured inner sweetness perfectly contrasted by orange and tart wild berry fruits cascading throughout. The 2021 takes on a crunchy sensation through the long and dramatic finale as sour cranberry and orange sorbet suggestions slowly fade. As is typically the case, Siro Pacenti balances exoticism with refinement in a way that I find wildly attractive."
Wine Advocate, 92 Points
"The 2021 Rosso di Montalcino drinks more like a Brunello than it does a Rosso. The wine shows dark but vibrant fruit with blackberry and blackcurrant. There is earthy spice, cola and smoke. The wine is powerful and full throttle (with a 15% alcohol content that you can't overlook) with a rich, medium-weight mouthfeel. It also shows good structure and young tannins. Production is 15,000 bottles."
Winemaker Notes:
"The greatest care goes into the production of Siro Pacenti Rosso di Montalcino. The grapes used for the Rosso di Montalcino come from vines between 15 and 25 years old. Manual sorting of grapes on appropriate tables before the destemming, using and optical selector after the destemming. Structured and powerful keep the freshness and typical aromas of our land."
