"There is more ripeness to the Clos de la Barre monopole, with an exotic fruit character ranging from grapefruit to passionfruit and hints of coconut. Despite the opulent aromas, however, there is a lively, fresh acidity that draws the wine to a lovely lingering finish. The grapes come from a 2.1-hectare clos behind the domaine in the village, whose oldest vines date to 1950. This wine is a significant step above the already high standard set by the blended village-level Meursault. Drinking Window: 2025-2045."

"A lovely flintiness and spiciness lifts from the nose, and the palate tastes of sliced apples dappled with fresh butter. The mouthfeel is supremely silky and polished, and the finish is dry and crisp. This is impressively harmonious already. This comes from the vineyard just behind the imposing residence."

"While compositionally similar to the straight Meursault villages, there is even better freshness as well as an attractive hint of star anise. There is again excellent verve to the chiseled and strikingly textured medium-bodied flavors that flash focused power on the firm, complex, balanced and impressively long finish. While definitely early to be making such prognostications, this appears to be the best Clos de la Barre in several years. Drink: 2029+."

"They have made one third of a crop only, despite employing wind turbines. A pale lemon colour, with a clean clear mineral infused nose. The oak is showing a bit at the moment but will blend in. A touch of coconut. Considerable volume towards the back. Still a baby. Drink from 2026-2030."

"The 2021 Meursault Clos de la Barre is lovely, mingling aromas of pear, blanched almonds, crisp stone fruit and white flowers in an inviting bouquet, followed by a medium to full-bodied, satiny, vibrant palate with good cut and grip. This has the substance to develop well in bottle."

"The 2021 Meursault Clos-de-la-Barre sports a clever reduction on the nose, with orange blossom, pithy pear and a subtle crushed stone note in the background. The palate is well balanced with candied orange peel and light quince notes; a little spice and touches of barley sugar and lime cordial appear towards the satisfying finish. This will surely be difficult to resist! Drink: 2025-2045."
