"Berberana was known back in the day for the quality of their wines - we're talking pre 1970's vineyard expansion and grubbing of older vines for more productive clones. 1964 is a magical vintage in Rioja, undoubtedly the best post second world war vintage for the region. Others such as 2001 may prove to be its equal, but for now, '64 reigns supreme."
