Chateau Cap Leon Veyrin has been family owned since 1810 when the Chateau Cap Leon and Veyrin estates were joined. Today, the sixth generation of the family is running the property. Listrac-Medoc is one of the best appellations to find hidden gems and shows there is exceptional quality and value to be found in region. Listrac-Medoc is one of the most recent and smallest of the Medoc appellations in Bordeaux. Wines from this region are known to be lively, generous, delicate and harmonious. Listrac-Medoc wines are made primarily from Merlot and Cabernet grapes. The 2016 Chateau Cap Leon Veyrin Listrac-Medoc is medium-bodied, juicy and fresh style. It's soft, fruity and inviting with a plush, velvety core. It's concentrated and balanced and will drink well now and over the next few years. This Bordeaux has notes of plum, blackberry, red plum, raspberry, blueberries, mint, green tobacco, cassis and violets. It's fresh, easy-going and a terrific choice. Enjoy!
James Suckling, 92 Points
"Attractive cassis and blueberries with violets, leading to quite a taut and powdery palate with a plush, velvety core of concentrated and balanced dark berries. Try from 2022."
Decanter,
"Already accessible. Aromatically open and expressive with plum and dark fruit notes. Supple and fleshy palate, with zesty freshness. Firm finish."
Jeb Dunnuck,
"A good effort, the 2016 Château Cap Leon Veyrin offers more dark fruits, with plenty of plum and blackberry notes as well as medium body, a juicy, fresh style on the palate, and zippy notes of mint and green tobacco. This fresh, easygoing Listrac is best enjoyed over the coming 7-8 years."
Vinous,
"The 2016 Cap Leon Veyrin is soft, fruity and inviting, with lovely red plum and dark raspberry fruit. Medium in body, with attractive floral overtones, this mid-weight, gracious Cru Bourgeois from Listrac is a terrific choice for drinking now and over the next few years."
