"Darkly floral with a medley of herbs, black cherries and licorice on the nose. Plenty of structure for long aging to go along with flavors of crushed raspberries, blackberries and notes of sweet spice.
Nero d’Avola is one of the most important red varieties of southern Italy & Sicily. We are taking the road less traveled and seeking out grapes that thrive in warm Mediterranean climates. Lodi is a natural fit for Nero d’Avola with its sandy soils, warm days but breezy, cool nights. All of this combined with the impeccably thoughtful farming of the fruit were exactly what we were hoping to find. The no-till vineyard is meticulously farmed by the Des Voignes & Hartwick families. The grapes were destemmed, fermented with native yeasts and raised in neutral oak for 16 months."
