"The Ostrea bottling of Gevrey villages from Jean-Louis Trapet hails from the four oldest parcels of lieux à dits parcels that the family has in Gevrey-Chambertin, with the oldest plot having been planted in 1913. This is always an excellent old vine bottling of Gevrey and the 2014 is outstanding, wafting from the glass in a blaze of plums, red and black cherries, raw cocoa, black minerality, woodsmoke, gamebirds and just a touch of vanillin oak. On the palate the wine is deep, full-bodied and nicely reserved on the attack, but with a very sappy core, lovely soil signature and fine length and grip on the moderately tannic and utterly seamless finish. High class villages. (Drink between 2021-2050)"

"Note: from very old vines situated mostly in Brochon, and Trapet notes that a high percentage are more than 90 years of age. Here too there is whiff of stem influence to the more complex mix of both red and dark currant, pungent earth and plenty of sauvage character. The admirably concentrated and intensely mineral-inflected middle weight flavors possess excellent definition while delivering first-rate persistence on the palate coating finish that is shaped by dense but fine tannins. This virtually always delivers high quality for its level and the 2014 version is no exception though I underscore that up to a decade of patience will be required. *Burghound Outstanding Top Value!*"

"Moderately saturated red Expressive, complex scents of cherry, smoke, underbrush and tobacco, plus a whiff of bloody steak Supple, ripe and dry, with excellent spicy lift giving definition to the currant, raspberry and soil flavors This expressive wine conveys a quintessential Gevrey wildness Finishes with rather suave tannins and excellent length."
