"I can feel a slight step change at this point, more tertiary flavours are coming in — a clearer tang of salinity and soft olive paste set against the fruit. I love the lightness of touch in the structure, and it has the florality that seems to come in and brush even the most exuberant vintages with a delicate breath of fresh air. A touch shorter than some, but still a generous, light-filled wine that is full of personality."

"A tannic, stern, austerely-styled Sassicaia, the 1993 reveals a dark ruby/purple color, followed by attractive cassis fruit with weedy tobacco and herbs in the background. New oak is present, but not intrusive. The wine is medium-bodied, with high tannin, good acidity, and a firm, structured feel on the palate."
