"The 2021 Gevrey-Chambertin Les Fontenys 1er Cru has a stoic bouquet at first, although it needs a few swirls of the glass to reveal attractive black cherry, raspberry and rose petal scents.  It’s soon found its voice and feels open and expressive.  The palate is medium-bodied with crunch red fruit, fine grip and mineralite, gaining depth towards the sorbet-fresh finish with traces of fresh fig and brown spices.  A lot is happening here, and it should develop with style in bottle."
