"The oldest vines in this 2.12ha Lafon monopole were planted in 1950. Although it was picked fairly late, the biodynamically-farmed vines managed to retain a vibrant acidity, with the aromas beginning with citrus peel and ripe pear, before revealing the spice and butter notes imparted by the cask ageing. On the palate, there is a marvellously juicy texture and a lingering finish that make this a wine to age. Drinking Window 2021 - 2034."

"Aromas of pear, orange peel, honeycomb, toasted almonds and white flowers introduce Lafon's 2019 Meursault Clos de la Barre, a medium to full-bodied, satiny and enveloping wine with fine concentration, chalky structuring extract and lively acids. While its depth of fruit may lend it deceptive youthful charm, it's built to age. Dominique Lafon—joined by daughter Léa and nephew Pierre—began picking on September 5 and was very upbeat about the quality of the 2019 vintage, reporting yields in the region of 40 hectoliters per hectare and alcohol levels in the upper 13s. Both more concentrated and more incisive in white and finer-boned and more elegant in red, I'd give the nod to 2019 over 2018 in both colors at this address. And that is quite a compliment, as Lafon really excelled in 2018. In short, as Dominique hands the reins to the next generation, it's fair to say that the Domaine des Comtes Lafon is in very fine shape indeed."
Burghound, 90-93 Points
"Here too gentle wood frames ripe and fresh aromas of pear and apple compote, acacia blossom and an interesting hint of orange peel. There is fine concentration to the rich yet precise medium-bodied flavors that possess a highly seductive texture thanks to the abundance of dry extract on the bone-dry, citrusy and impressively lengthy finale. Good stuff and this should amply reward up to a decade of cellaring. *Burghound Outstanding Top Value!*"

"The 2019 Meursault Clos-de-la-Barre has a taut nose like the Désirée. Perfumed white flower scents intermingle with yellow plum and citrus peel – very pretty. The palate is well balanced with a fine bead of acidity and there is plenty of energy here. A twist of sour lemon lends tension toward the finish, and a touch of ginger pops up on the aftertaste. Excellent."
