"The 2017 Ciliegiolo San Lorenzo is fascinating to taste next to the 2018, as the personalities of both vintages are so clearly expressed. A dense, potent wine, the 2017 is going to need a number of years to soften, as it is a bit of a brute today. Even so, it has a ton of depth and plenty of potential. The darker side of Ciliegiolo comes through nicely in this powerhouse."
Winemaker Notes:
"A deep ruby color, its texture already reveals significant extract. Cherry dominates the nose, but it's also accompanied by blackcurrant, spicy pepper, and clove notes, which are also reflected in the flavor. On the palate, it's elegant, balanced, and persistent; not a muscular wine, but one with great freshness and drinkability."
