"Fresh colour with lime tint. Pure fresh clean nose, then middleweight on the palate with a rounder style, but still the classical fresh Chablis finish. Smooth and succulent. Escaped the frost which shows in the style and balance."

"A wine of tremendous appeal, the 2017 Chablis Butteaux 1er Cru is fleshy and inviting from the very first taste. All the elements simply fall into place effortlessly. Lemon confit, chamomile, dried flowers, mint and almond all develop in the glass, but it is the wine's creaminess that is most alluring today."
James Suckling, 92 Points
"This has peach and some very fresh, sweet lemon aromas here. The palate is round and concentrated with some attractive, gentle grip. This has great shape and depth and is already looking very approachable. Drink over the next five years."
Wine Advocate, 92 Points
"The 2017 Chablis 1er Cru Butteaux is showing very well, offering up lovely aromas of waxy lemon rind, beeswax, ripe apples and oyster shell. On the palate, the wine is medium to full-bodied, deep and nicely concentrated, with chewy dry extract, ripe acids and a long, nicely defined finish. This is one 2017 that nods to the 2015 vintage in structure and scale, but it's nicely balanced and will reward some bottle age."
John Gilman, 91+ Points
"The 2017 Butteaux is another very good bottle in the making, but this does not have quite the same backend lift as the Forêts this year. The bouquet is pure and classy, offering up scents of sweet grapefruit, apple, chalky soil tones, spring flowers and a topnote of lime zest. On the palate the wine is deep, full-bodied, crisp and rock solid at the core, with good focus and balance, bright acids and lovely length on the complex finish. This too is very good, but I really like the backend energy of the Forêts this year."
Burghound, 90 Points
"A lovely nose proffers notes of mineral reduction, tidal pool, oyster shell and various white orchard fruit nuances. There is more volume if less minerality to the slightly bigger and richer flavors that also possess good power on the attractively well-layered, lengthy and notably dry and saline finish. Again, good quality here."
