Decanter, 95 Points
"For those seeking a more generous, full-throttle Pinot from Donum, the Russian River offering is a more decadent step above the Carneros bottlings. The 2022 Pinot Noir is a medium to full-bodied wine with firm, grippy tannins, evoking the sensation of biting into a freshly picked McIntosh apple—where that grip frames the front palate. Still, the mid-palate reveals fleshy fruit, including cherry, raspberry, and strawberry. Nuances of sandalwood, spearmint, underbrush, conifer, and coriander seed add complexity. A true powerhouse and crowd-pleaser. From their estate, Winside Vineyard. 100% Pinot Noir aged 16 months in 57% new French oak."
James Suckling, 94 Points
"Aromas of plums and berries with hints of flowers. Medium-bodied, creamy and refined, with balance and focus. Bright and vivid. Why hold this? Drink now."
Wine Enthusiast, 94 Points
"The nose of this savory and dark Pinot is redolent of fried shiitake, plum and baking spices. The palate brings rich tannin, black cherry and Darjeeling flavors and a streak of raspberry lemon acidity that focuses the wine to a razor's edge. A few years in the cellar will soften the edges and make this absolutely sing."
Winemaker Notes:
"Medium-dark ruby in color, this Pinot Noir offers aromas of blackberry, sapling, charcoal and cocoa. The palate reveals juicy berry, cherry and apricot, accented by a hint of cinnamon. The finish is focused, with a pleasant grip and persistent notes of fresh fruit. Recommended drinking window: 2025-2033."
Alcohol: 13.8%
