"This has a fragrant nose of blueberries, violets, dried herbs and cassis. Fleshy and chewy on the palate with full body and an earthy, herbal undertone. Drink now or hold."
Importer Notes:
"Antonio Lamona is the most humble rock-star we know. His basic Montepulciano d’Abruzzo is a staple of our portfolio, and we sell out our allocation of his Riserva every year. Aged in 50 hl Slavonian oak for 12 months, and an additional year in steel, the wine exudes wonderful character from the 40 year-old vines. Grown in the classic “tendone” (or tent) style, the plantings are pruned to produce about 2/3 of a bottle per plant (very low yields!). Not to be missed.
This 2020 La Quercia Montepulciano d'Abruzzo Riserva boasts a vibrant red color with violet undertones. Its nose offers a complex blend of dark plum and cherry, complemented by notes of earth spice and smoke. On the palate, this wine presents as full-bodied and ripe, with sweet and well-integrated tannins. The finish is bright and bold, leaving a lasting impression."
