"This innovative sparkling riesling is fantastically harmonious, with an incredibly sensual texture that caresses your palate, in spite of being bone dry. How did they do that? Well, the very ripe vintage certainly played a role, but what it didn’t do is blow this up into a huge mouthful. In fact, the finish is very graceful, the fine mousse precisely underlining the motes of white tree fruit and lemon zest. Drink or hold."

"The 2018 Brut Nature Riesling Saarburger Rausch is a single-site Sekt made from base wines fermented in Fuder, followed by 48 months on lees. Salty, lemony and herb-tinged, Riesling notes shine in the glass. More air adds a lovely note of Williams pear peel and creamy sponge cake. The body is a picture of lightness and finesse. It seems that the lithe, delicate Zilliken house style translates seamlessly into Sekt. This is beautifully balanced, hitting a lovely intersection of creamy and varietal tones. It’s a slender aperitif style with much depth, a bone-dry finish and lasting length. Zero dosage. Disgorged: June 2023."

"The 2018er Saarburger Rausch Riesling Sekt Brut Nature was re-fermented and aged on lees for 60 months before being disgorged in May 2024 (the disgorgement date is not provided on the label). It was made along the guidelines from the VDP for its VDP.SEKT.PRESTIGE label. This white- yellow wine offers a hugely enjoyable nose of bitter grapefruit sorbet, bergamot, minerals, and smoke. The Sekt is still quite firm on the palate but already offers great delicacy and finesse. The mousse still shows some exuberance in the finish, but this should blend into the wine with further bottle aging. This superb Sekt is probably best enjoyed as of 6-9 months after disgorgement so we would hold onto our bottles to get the maximum pleasure out of it. We would not be surprised if the Sekt would then warrant an even higher rating: It is that impressive! 2025-2028"
