"This is also aromatically very pretty with its equally airy aromas of various white orchard fruit aromas that are layered with plenty of floral wisps along with a plethora of spice nuances and in particular, anise. The gorgeously textured and quite seductive medium-bodied flavors coat the palate with dry extract that also serves to buffer the noticeably firmer acid spine supporting the beautifully persistent, clean and dry finale. The Carillon Referts has a long track record for effortless aging and the 2022 version should be no different."

"The 2022 Puligny-Montrachet Les Referts 1er Cru has the most precision amongst Carillon’s three Puligny cuvees this year: crushed limestone commingling with green apples and fleeting touches of orange pith.  The palate is well-balanced, with more refinement than the Les Perriere and more cohesion towards the elegant finish.  This is very promising." 

Winemaker Notes: 

"Jacques exploits a mere quarter-hectare of 40-year-old vines in this great northern-Puligny 1er cru. Where Perrières is punchily mineral, Referts is broodingly intense, with a limestone core that murmurs rather than shouts. There is a hair’s breadth more concentration to the fruit here, but the impression of freshness and salinity is still notable, with the palate showing a gleaming energy."
