It all started at the dinner table. Charlie Wagner Sr. (co-founder of Caymus) would mix wines to find the perfect glass to pair with his meal. No one blended wines back then, so his experiment was pretty radical. In 1989, Conundrum White was born. Conundrum Red followed in 2011. Conundrum is owned by the Wagner family of Caymus Vineyards, but stands on its own as a separate brand. Meant to showcase some of the best wine regions in California, there are no single-varietal rules when it comes to these wines. Each has their unique style. Charlie's grandson, Charlie Wagner II, keeps the Conundrum wine as original as ever. Over the years, the Conundrum line up has amassed a loyal following by appealing to critics and consumers. Conundrum Red is both serious and playful. It's sourced from all over California's leading wine-growing regions. The 2020 Conundrum Red Blend is dry, yet rich with lavish fruit and a smooth texture. On the nose, there are notes of plum, nectarine, chocolate and toasted oak. It has a medley of fresh fruits and smooth tannins. This red blend has notes of chocolate cake, coconut, creme de cassis, stone fruit, nutmeg and clove. Enjoy!
