Winemaker Notes:
"The vines in this hidden vineyard were 60-years old when we picked. It doesn’t yield a lot of fruit, but the result is a rich, brambly Zinfandel like an exploding strawberry along with blackberry, black pepper, cherry and plum. This was obviously a denser, deeper, richer wine than the normal Homefire. It had more of a combination of black and red fruit. The fruit character is ripe, slightly jammy, dried (like a fruit leather, not raisinated). The oakiness in the wine is balanced, with subtle cocoa and carob notes. There is a nice spiciness in the middle palate, with notes of sarsaparilla/root beer (a good thing!)."
