"Stunning aromas of dark cherry, wild raspberry, gamy meats, dark soil and slate recall a hike through a damp forest full of mushrooms, moss and fallen trees. The game-like umami character of the palate meets with fresh strawberry, tarragon, sage and toasted pumpkin seed, making for a unique and compelling wine."
Wine Advocate, 90 Points
"The 2017 Gamay, from older plantings in the Bien Nacido vineyard, was made using 100% whole cluster with very light extraction. It has a pale to medium ruby-garnet color and opens with notions of tar, chargrill and saddle leather over crushed rock, potpourri, dried flowers, bright red berries and loads of amaro and spicy accents. The palate is light to medium-bodied and savory with a light frame of dusty tannins and juicy freshness on the long finish."
Winemaker Notes:
"The 2017 Gamay is light bodied and savory with notes of violets, wet earth, gun powder and raspberry. It finishes with mouthwatering acidity and soft tannins.
Fermented using only native yeast and majority whole cluster in large open top fermentors. Once fermentation is complete Lieu Dit transfers to neutral oak barrels for the winter. Prior to bottling in the spring they rack to stainless steel tank."
Alcohol: 12.8%
