"The 2016 Viña Ulises from Gutiérrez de la Vega is composed of a blend of sixty percent Giró and forty percent Monastrell. The wine is impressively low in octane for this region, coming in at 13.5 percent alcohol and delivers a fine bouquet of dark berries, black cherries, dark soil tones, a touch of Monastrell’s autumnal leafiness, charred wood and espresso. On the palate the wine is pure, full-bodied and very soil-driven in personality (particularly for Alicante!), with a fine core, moderate, well-integrated tannins and impressive length and grip on the complex, tangy and quite light on its feet finish. Fine juice that is going to blossom beautifully with some aging, but is already very easy on the palate! This wine is named in tribute to James Joyce. 2017- 2035."
Alcohol: 13.5%
