Robert Mondavi said of the early 1970s in Napa Valley: ““At that time we were purists, we were making Cabernet, Pinot Noir. In 1978, he co-founded the Napa Valley Vintners association, which is now a leading advocacy group for the wine industry in the region. He also helped establish the California Wine Institute and the Winegrowers of Napa County.
