"Foursquare Exceptional Cask Selection Mark XXVII Equidem is a 14-year-old single blended rum that showcases a unique double maturation process, spending 5 years in ex-bourbon barrels before finishing for 9 years in ex-Black Muscat casks. Intriguingly, this rum beat out all other spirits categories to win the title of "Supreme Champion Spirit" at the 2021 International Spirits Challenge, a feat rarely achieved by rum in a competition traditionally dominated by whisky and cognac."

Aroma: "Rich aromas of ripe tangerine and candied orange peel lead the way, followed by warm vanilla and toffee. Subtle hints of leather and cedar add complexity, while a touch of baking spices like cinnamon and nutmeg provide depth."

Palate: "Bold and full-bodied with a pleasant warmth. Initial flavors of salted caramel and brown butter give way to layers of dark chocolate, dried figs, and black cherry. Savory notes reminiscent of miso paste and umami mushrooms add intrigue. The high proof is noticeable but well-integrated."

Finish: "Long and evolving. Lingering flavors of toasted oak, honey, and dried fruit. A subtle smokiness emerges, along with hints of espresso and dark cocoa. The finish is dry with a pleasant tannic grip, leaving a warming sensation that invites another sip."
