"The Shafer 2023 is a medium, youthful, ruby red with brilliant transparency. There’s a gem-like quality to its appearance. The rain-fresh nose is full of subtle (non-fruit bomb) strawberries and red raspberries with a hint of sun-warmed woodsy notes- and it feels so Oregon to me. The texture of this wine is pure silk, the mouth continues with delicious red berries on a stealthy frame, ending with a long finish. The 2023 is as ethereal as the rainforest mists and it’s full of movement. But there’s a depth here that is many layers of the diaphanous. It feels to me like what a nocturne would taste like."
