"The 2023 Richebourg Grand Cru has a wonderful bouquet, a step above the Cros Parantoux with irresistible, vivacious brambly red fruit, briar, crushed stone and light iris flower scents. The aromatics seem multilayered here. The palate is medium-bodied with fine tannins, a caressing sense of rondeur and what feels like a little lower acidity than the previous vintage. Cashmere textures pervade from start to finish without the "explosion" you might find on the 2022, yet it is seamlessly integrated with a very persistent finish. Superb."
Jasper Morris, 95-98 Points
"The best looking grapes, reports Jean-Nicolas, with virtually no sorting needed. An even and noble purple. A ripe floral nose, without exaggeration. The sense of balance is impeccable. Greater depth of fruit than Cros Parantoux but just possibly less elegance. A chocolate note to finish. If this refines during the rest of the ageing it will outstrip Cros Parantoux but not a guarantee. Drink from 2035-2045. Tasted Nov 2024."

"Méo's 2023 Richebourg is a wine on another level. Although closed initially, it opens on the palate to reveal a lovely, subtle, plummy fruit with accents of all smoke, mineral, and, of all things, nutmeg that brings a pleasant spicy note. The texture is elegant and silky, yet fresh and dense. The complexity comes directly from the two parcels: 0.04 hectares in Les Richebourgs and 0.30 hectares with three planting dates (the oldest in the 1950s). It will be best to give this wine a decade in the cellar before opening."

"Scented with rose hips, peonies, new leather, peppercorns and purple fruits, this bouquet is pristine pure and multi-dimensional. Suave, seamless tannins hug the fullish body stuffed with mineral essences. The finish slowly melts into the palate as the vivacious freshness cleans up behind it. These vines spread across 0.4 ha in the northwestern corner of the cru, much further upslope than all other producers, save Bichot's Clos Frantin."

"Jean-Nicolas Méo’s 2023 Richebourg is another brilliant wine in the making. It delivers a complex and utterly refined aromatic constellation of black plums, black cherries, smoked duck, dark chocolate, a complex base of soil, cedary oak and plenty of upper register smokiness. On the palate the wine is pure, elegant and full-bodied, with a gorgeous core of fruit, ripe, seamless tannins, great focus and grip and a very long, complex and soil-driven finish. A beautiful wine in the making. 2040-2100."

"Note: from a .37 ha parcel in Les Véroilles of 60+ year old vines save for a very tiny parcel in Richebourg proper. This too is aromatically restrained with its exceptionally spicy nose that is similar to that of the CP but with just a bit more oak influence. The supple, round and delicious broad-shouldered flavors possess a relatively easy-going mid-palate that contrasts significantly with the beautifully balanced but very firm, powerful and hugely long finale. This overtly stony effort is seriously compact and like all examples of fine Richebourg, constructed for the long haul.*Burghound Don't Miss!*"
