"I really wasn't seeking to diverge from my passion of making dry Riesling, but grower Francis Mahoney's Vermentino looked so pristine as we walked the vineyard that I couldn't help myselft.  Mahoney, who has farmed superb grapes in this cool region of Sonoma County agreed to part with a small amount of his Vermentino grapes, which are in demand.  So, that became a line extension.  Because this Italian grape lends itself to a slightly richer mid-palate, winemaker Greg LaFollette decided to leave the tiniest amount of residual sugar and he paired it with low alcohol." - Dan Berger, Wine Columnist
